DARRYL CASEY WARD 1
BIO & LITERATURE
Darryl Casey is a dedicated educator, lifelong volunteer, and passionate community builder running to represent Ward 1 on Brantford City Council. With 31 years as a proud Brantford resident-including the last 20 years living directly in Ward 1-Darryl has a deep, personal understanding of the unique strengths and pressing needs of our local community.
As a retired elementary school principal with 18 years of leadership experience, Darryl knows the value of accountability, transparency, and collaborative problem-solving. Now, he is ready to bring that full-time dedication and integrity to City Hall to work exclusively for you.
🤝 Commitment to Ward 1 Residents
Darryl’s campaign is built on a foundation of "Community First." Having personally knocked on thousands of doors across the ward, he listens closely to the stories, concerns, and hopes of individual families. As your full-time councillor, Darryl commits to:
- Accountability & Integrity: Refusing corporate and special-interest donations to ensure his loyalty remains solely with the people of Ward 1.
- True Accessibility: Remaining fully available to residents, promising to return your calls, answer your questions, and meet face-to-face to advocate for your needs.
- A Balanced Downtown Solution: Championing a bold, compassionate, and highly visible Downtown Safety & Support Team to address public safety, business support, and pathways to housing and addiction treatment.
🏡 Commitment to Our Neighbourhoods
From Oakhill to West Brant, Shellard Lane, and beyond, Ward 1 is made up of diverse, vibrant neighbourhoods that deserve a strong voice at City Hall. Darryl is focused on smart infrastructure and protecting the character of our local streets by:
- Improving Traffic Safety: Hosting direct neighbourhood meetings alongside local police to implement targeted traffic-calming measures, such as raised crosswalks, especially near schools, parks, trails, and senior-populated areas.
- Smart Infrastructure over Costly Extensions: Actively opposing the Oak Park Road Extension (OPRE) in favour of safer, more practical infrastructure alternatives that better protect local environments and neighbourhoods.
- Attainable Housing Choices: Advocating for the development of attainable starter homes (800–1,300 sq. ft.) so the next generation can afford to live, grow, and stay in our community.
